Midwest Gaming Classic 2006
The 2006 Midwest Gaming Classic was held on June 3rd and 4th, 2006 at the Olympia Resort Center in Oconomowoc, WI. The show was held in two rooms: the main room which was for vendors, main tournaments and pinball and arcade machines and the Event hall for people (like me) who put up exhibits (next to that was the Museum and the speaker room). The turn out looked pretty good and they got lot vendors who came to the 2004 show: Atari Age, Pack Rat Video games, and Warp zone Video games. A couple news ones also showed up at the show as well 8-bit classics and Trade N games. In the event hall there was three main areas set up: Dreamcon (Dreamcast systems), the Underground chamber (old systems and apple computers) and of course Jagfest on tour(Atari Jaguar and Lynx systems).Tom L was there also with assorted systems. While the other exhibits was done well the Jaguar fest exhibit was down sized compared to 2004,but over all it did pretty good I got show off a limited edition of Gorf classic on the Jaguar which was the most played game on my system. I had only a chance to attend a couple speakers Scott Adams (maker of Adventure games for the computer) and Ben Heckendorn (maker of various portable consoles) both speakers were well done. Later on the first night I attended the Atari Age after hour's party which was fun to attend saw some cool 2600 games ate pizza and drank some pop. On the second day before show time I attended the breakfast buffet for MGC staff (I am part of the staff since I did contact some places to sponsor plus I did have the jag fest area as well) over all the show had a good turn out for two days.(8-bit classics and GOAT store produced a DVD of the show which covers all areas (minus the breakfast buffet I mentioned) which you can purchase at either 8-bitclassics.com or Goatsore.com (Just to let know that I got interviewed on the DVD about the Jag fest section, this is rare because I hardly do interviews the last interview I did was at Jagfest’99 before this one)
